Little Voice
By Jim Cartwright - Directed by Annette Sands
This show was superb - Hope you Didn't miss it

After the death of her father, the pathetically shy and introverted little Voice (LV) lives the life of a recluse listening to his old records in her room and in the process driving her loud-mouthed, abusive mother, Mari Hoff to distraction. At night, however, when her father's ghost visits, LV sings the songs of the great divas such as Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey and Marilyn Monroe, imitating these great singers with surprising accuracy. One night LV is overheard by one of her mother's sleazy boyfriends, the disastrous dead-end talent scout Ray Say who recognises her incredible talent and realises this is his last big chance for the glittering prizes. Gambling everything Ray forces LV to appear at a local run-down, seedy night club run by Mr. Boo. As preparations for the big event proceed apace several problems arise. LV meets Billy the equally shy pigeon racing telephone engineer and they form a tentative, gentle friendship. The big night finally arrives and everything is in readiness the band, the club and even a big agent from London, but what about LV?
This show brings you gritty humour, drama, romance and music. The 1998 film starred many famous names such as Michael Caine, EwanMcGregor, Jim Broadbent, Brenda Blethyn and of course Jane Horrocks as LV.
